ABOUT BILL KUNDE & SUE MICHAELSEN: BACKGROUNDS & SPECIALTIES

Bill Kunde (DRE# 01701780) is the fourth generation of his family to live and work in the Sonoma County Wine Industry.  Bill received his Associate of Arts degree with an emphasis in Viticulture and Agricultural Business from the Sonoma County's Santa Rosa Junior College in 1975.  From 1975 through 1992 he served as vineyard manager for Kinneybrook and Wildwood Vineyards totaling over 700 planted acres.  In 1992 he took over as Director of Operations at Kunde Family Estate Winery in Sonoma County and worked in this position for 10 years.  From 2002-2005, Bill traveled nationally as a sales representative for the winery.  He served as a Board of Director for Kunde Family Estate Winery from 1995-2008.  Bill remains a principal of Kunde Family Estate Winery and the surrounding vineyards.  Bill also served on the Board of Directors for the Sonoma County Grape Growers Association (now the wine commission) from 1990-1992.

In 2005, Bill received his California Real Estate Agent’s License, and started KM Properties, Inc. with his business partner Sue Michaelsen.  Other industry and community work include: Sonoma County Viticulture Technical Group; Sonoma County Winegrape Commission; Sonoma Valley Vintners and Growers’ Association (Grant Allocation Committee); Sonoma County Vintners Association; Zinfandel Advocates and Producers (ZAP); Family Winemakers of California; California Association of Realtors; and National Association of Realtors.

Sue Michaelsen (DRE# 01703727) is a real estate attorney and broker who grew up in Sonoma County.  She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications and her Juris Doctorate Degree from Humphrey’s College School of Law.  She has worked as an elected City Official in the Central Valley where she dealt with land use and zoning issues.  Sue worked for the law firm of Logan & Powell in San Jose, California where she served as a Deputy City Attorney for the cities of Monte Sereno and Scotts Valley and also represented private entities and developers.  Sue returned to Sonoma County in 2002 practicing law full time until 2005 when she received her California Real Estate Broker’s License and formed KM Properties, Inc. with Bill Kunde.  Sue is well-versed in contract negotiation and drafting and is specifically aligned with the nuances particular to the winery and vineyard industry.  Sue continues her education yearly by participating in legal education classes including the California Wine Law Forum and by taking viticulture classes at local colleges.
